Fnar fnar fnar!
I got my polyethylene tubing through the post this morning from the lovely people at Fancy-tapes.co.uk - I bought some teal grip tape to go with it so it has a super duper line of tape around the circumference on the inside and then spiral tape too..... teal on white looks b'oody brilliant!
It's so light and whippy, love it! I'll have to work a bit on knees to waist with it as not having the weight means it's harder to make it hit the right spot on my legs. Still, she's 34" of pure poly goodness :D
I've decided I will shortly be doing a picture post of all my hoops, partly because I feel like I should and partly because I'm a total geek and have pretty much assigned names and personalities to all my hoops. That's right, I'm a freak.
An on-going exploration into the world of a hoop dancer and performer in pursuit of circular enlightenment....

Just had my first evening of circus fun with the TWJC folk and much fun was had! The main hall in the Camden centre is SUPER high which is amazing, learning to really control my throws which is a step in the right direction, plus I had a good chance to scope out the ol' juggling gig - methinks my next project will be teaching myself to juggle.
A good night all in all, though there wasn't enough music for my tastes (might take my iPod next time and plug in one ear, helps me with the flow.) I'm heading to Big Tricks Little Top next Tuesday and this coming Monday is the new hoop dance fitness class in Benenden, though I've yet to call and book, must get on that! Don't know who it is that runs it yet, I did wonder if it was someone from TW but alas not. Ah well!
Had some great hooping down at the reservoir yesterday, though it was incredibly windy which a) meant I got bloody freezing very quickly and b) interfered with my planes a bit. At least it was sunny though!
Now comes the birthday party planning - I turn 25 in about 3 weeks and good golly I must celebrate. I've decided to have a garden party in the field with tiki lamps and fairy lights and candles and a bbq etc etc etc. Hopefully all the good people are coming :)
Anywho, Sam is still updating regularly so go check him out. The island sounds amazing, more posts = win!

Shoop de HOOP!
Thank god for Gems, that's all I can say :) After this years beginners and intermediate/advanced UK Hoop Gatherings sold out in record time, Gems very kindly arranged a THIRD event - mixed ability - for those of us (aka ME) who missed out on tickets for the first events!
The 'Third Time Lucky' UK Hoop Gathering event will be taking place from the 13th - 15th of August at the Wildways Retreat in Shropshire.... If you want to book a ticket then DO IT FAST as the last two events sold out in only 3 hours - madness!
I say again, shoop de HOOP!

Before I forget....
I have to stick a link here to the song that I've been listening to pretty much on repeat for the last 24 hours.... it's the best thing in the world.

It literally gives me goosebumps and raises my spirits in a way that a song hasn't for a VERY long time.
Enjoy! x

It's official. I'm a huge girl. House has made me cry at least twice in the last 24 hours. Pathetic!
In case anyone was interested in Sam's travels and finding out a little more about Anjouan and the Scops owls (providing he sees them!) then head on over to http://bigsamstravels.blogspot.com and read away :) Only one update so far but hey, he's only been there since Wednesday. Apparently the internet is pretty bad but hey, it works well enough.
So, in hoop related news (which is unofficially why I'm here, not just to spew the musings of my not quite subconscious) last nights Yalding hoop jam was great! Tried out the new jump I can't quite do in my living room and almost, ALMOST managed to get a x3 shoulder to pass (from left to right round the back and then back across the front) but it's definitely going to take some practice. I think the thing I need to work on the most is my flow - I'm comfortable on the body but transitioning between planes just doesn't seem to come as naturally. Plus, and I can thank Sam for this, whenever I f*ck up I pull a face! Must concentrate on keeping the flow, even when I balls it up and smack myself in the face. Also, must remember that I know more moves than I think I do...... perhaps a list in my head will make it easier for me to mix things up.
Next on the list; more jumps and practising with the 32", perhaps looking at getting hold of some polypro tubing (fear!) and finding out who is running this mystery class in Benenden on a Monday night.... plus the ever growing list of performances I've been applying for! So far there's a circus skills demo at St. Bede's school in June, and a couple more school fete's in May and August. Should be good!
Whilst I'm here, I must link to the INCREDIBLE new music Sharna introduced me to. Melody Sheep has created Symphony of Science, an experimental musical project fusing music and science with wonderful results. Plus you can download it all for FREEEEE! Go to the music listings page and just hit right click - save.... You'll love it!

Huzzah!
A new all-levels UK Hoop Gathering weekend is being organised! Huzzah I say!
I'm so excited as I was torn between the Get It Started and Push It Forward weekends and whilst I was dithering and making up my mind they BOTH sold out.... so a combined weekend is perfect for me :)
Now all I have to do is get the £135 sorted, ouch :s Do I spy a small nibble of my savings disappearing? Methinks so.

Ok, so, here I am! Welcome to my circular little corner of the universe, I hoop you enjoy it :)
Firstly, a but about me.... I'm Cazz, I'm 24 (not for much longer) and I currently live in the sleepy village of Ticehurst in East Sussex with mi dear mam, my two cats, my three snails and my ever growing family of hoops. I've been hooping for about 6 months thanks to my lovely friend miss Emily Bee (aka Miss Tilly Twist - http://tillytwist.co.uk/ - and one half of The Pantalooneys) from whom I bought my first hoops. Emily was kind enough to introduce me to the legendary Sharna Rose (http://www.sharnarose.co.uk and http://www.youtube.com/user/sharnarose) who I have since been lucky enough to hoop with most weeks - we even hooped the Sport Relief mile!
Anyway, I can safely say that hooping has become a major part of my life and something that I enjoy every day. Whether I'm in the mood for some exercise, feeling a bit blue or just fancy a bit of a boogie it is something that always lifts my spirits and forces me to push myself so I can improve on my technique and flow. More than that though, it has genuinely helped me come out of my shell, try new things and in the process I have met some truly incredible people, with many more to come hopefully!
This year I will be heading to Southern Lights festival, on my own! It may sound silly, but going to a festival on my own is not the sort of thing I would usually do, but the pursuit of hooping is a many splendoured thing! I had my sights set on going to this years UK Hoop Gathering but sadly tickets sold out in 3 hours (whilst I was bashing around London), boo! Still, I have high hopes for the summer sun and some hooping down by the reservoir :)
Armed with my trusty camera I hope to be able to track my progress and learn some things about myself as I update this blog and hopefully go from hoop to glory!
